Thanks to my friend Anne Freeman Walker for allowing me to post these pictures! So inspiring to a little vintage gown lover like myself!
These photos are from the January 13, 1951 of Doris and Carroll Freeman, in Auburn, Maine. Anne wore her mother’s wedding gown to her own wedding in 1988, which I’ve included two photos of! Aren’t these stunning?
“I knew I wanted to wear my Mom’s dress. I was so grateful that it fit. We had someone fix the veil on her hat but that was it. Everything else was perfect and nothing else needed restoration! It hadn’t even been professionally preserved!! The color aged consistently and beautifully. Gorgeous ecru color. I’ve always thought there is NO WAY I could have ever found a more perfect dress. It has tiny little buttons all the way down the front from the peter pan collar to the start of the skirt. Gorgeous satin and lace.”
